We aim to:​

Stimulate the development of scientific activity in the field of Periodontology, Oral Surgery, Restorative Dentistry and Oral Rehabilitation, Oral Pathology, Dental Materials, Epidemiology, Odontogeriatrics and related areas;

To present to CiiEM its clinical research proposals, defining priorities according to the strategic objectives;

Define, plan and supervise clinical research and other scientific activities related to its area;

Articulate with other internal and external research units/groups, providing their services, fostering scientific cooperation and exchange, encouraging participation in consortia, networks and other forms of joint work;

To enhance the scientific qualification of students by promoting and supervising research activities in the scientific fields in question. To support the teaching given by ISCSEM in its different cycles of studies leading to the achievement of degrees and in non-degree courses. To promote the articulation between the teaching and research areas, in a perspective of expansion, especially with regard to post-graduate education (specialization courses);

Coordinate the preparation and execution of projects that are part of CRU research lines and submit the application for external financing programs;

Promote the dissemination of scientific knowledge at national and international levels, through its publication in peer-reviewed journals and at international national meetings and conferences;

Promote the organization of scientific meetings, advanced training seminars and related events;

Manage databases related to the productivity of the investigations, allowing their periodic evaluation (internal and external);

Strengthen the critical mass of the unit with training at the PhD level;

Ensure the management of the resources that are made available to them, in accordance with the approved plans, with a view to the development of their projects and activities, in accordance with their competencies and without prejudice to the guidelines and competencies of the School organs.
The future challenge of CRU is its commitment to high-quality clinical research that enables better characterization of oral diseases that may lead to the development of new therapies.​
